Amy Winehouse Dies Too Young Of An Age

Sad news to report: Amy Winehouse was found dead in her home in North London today. The cause of death has not been confirmed. She was just 27 years old.

One of the most talented singer/songwriters of her generation, Amy Winehouse was known for her British drawl and beehive, her belty, bluesy voice and profoundly pained lyrics that recalled the work of seminal blues singers like Billie Holiday and Sarah Vaughn. Seemingly as troubled as she was talented, Amy Winehouse suffered from highly public legal entanglements and disorderly conduct as well as dangerous battles with substance abuse. Winehouse entered rehab as recently as May 2011 and canceled some June tour dates.

Born in Southgate, London, in 1983, Winehouse left an unforgettable and indelible mark on modern pop and soul music, leaving behind two highly acclaimed albums, including her 2003 album, Frank, and her 2006 breakthrough album, Back to Black, featuring the titular single and, forebodingly, the song "Rehab." Back to Black became a multiplatinum worldwide smash and won her five Grammys and a BRIT Award.

Amy Winehouse will be remembered by her family, friends and fans as a great talent gone too soon.

Suspected Purse Snatcher Leads Police On Chase

WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) — A high-speed chase that stretched from a local freeway to surface streets Tuesday ended with the arrest of two people

One of the suspects allegedly stole a woman’s purse at Costco in Citrus Heights and drove off with another suspect in a stolen Ford Expedition. But police were soon on their trail after a witness followed the vehicle and called 9-1-1 for help.

Officers picked up the chase at I-80 and Truxel Boulevard where the suspect tried to lose them by driving at a high rate of speed. They exited the freeway at the Reed Avenue exit and headed east. The suspects crashed into a mini van at the intersection of Sacramento Avenue and Jefferson Boulevard, injuring one woman. The vehicle jumped the curb near Capitol Place Apartments, drove through some bushes, lost one wheel and came to a stop. One suspect was arrested at the crash and another was stopped by a police dog and taken into custody.

One of the suspects is described as a 20-year-old male. The second is a 17-year-old male. A handgun was found in the vehicle.

'Cash Cab' strikes and kills pedestrian in Canada

A "Cash Cab" taxi struck and killed a pedestrian in Vancouver when a technical staff member was driving the replica cab back to the lot after filming on the Canadian version of the game show wrapped for the day.

The staff member crashed into a 61-year-old man crossing the street and the man died in the hospital soon after the accident Friday, police said. The family of the Surrey man has requested that his name not be released.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim and his friends and his family," said Andrew Burnstein, president of Castlewood Productions Inc., the production company behind the Canadian version of "Cash Cab."

"My heart also goes out to the driver of the vehicle, a member of our technical staff, who is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, as is our entire team," he said.

There were no witnesses to the crash and charges had not been filed, according to the Vancouver Sun. The driver remained at the scene of the accident and the replica taxi is being held by investigators.

The trivia game show pays out cash to unassuming passengers who correctly answer questions for the duration of their commute. Adam Growe, a comedian and a licensed taxi driver, hosts the Canadian version of the mobile show. He was not driving the cab at the time of the accident, which is reportedly the worst in the show's history.

The American version of "Cash Cab" is filmed in New York and Chicago and broadcast on the Discovery Channel. Its host, Ben Bailey, has said that he never gets into fender benders.

Be The Voice For - Ernest Duenez Jr

On June 8, 2011 my cousin Ernest Duenez Jr was unarmed and fatally shot mulitple times in the body and face by a Manteca Police Officer in San Joaquin County. According to several witnesses, Ernest posed no threat to the officer as he exited the back of the truck with his hands up. His leg became entangled in the seatbelt and as he fell to the ground he was shot by the officer without hesitation. Each shot ensuring death being the only outcome for Ernest including the final shot to the face. The officer made the decision to use excessive deadly force with such disregard for my cousin's life. Such reckless behavior by law enforcement happens all too often and has affected too many families including mine.

Manteca PD has released different accounts of the incident all which have proven to be untrue and haven't made a comment regarding my cousins death since. It has been a month and they are yet to release the name of the officer (who was allowed to return to work 2 weeks later) or the video recorded on the police car camera. They refuse to answer any of the questions my family deserves to know pending a 6 month investigation. If Manteca PD can release multiple false statements within hours of the shooting, why can't they answer our questions NOW! Especially the biggest question of all "What justification did the officer have for taking my cousin's life." The lies and lack of response by Manteca PD proves they have no consideration for the lives effected by this tragedy. This officer should be taken off the force so his itchy trigger finger and bad judgement can't take the life of another in our community. My family is represented my renowned Attorney John Burris (also represented the family of Oscar Grant, victim of Bay Area Bart Officer in 2009) in a civil lawsuit against the City of Manteca for the wrongful killing of Ernest.

My cousin was not perfect, but he didn't deserve a death penalty while in the upswing of his life. Ernest was a beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, grandson, cousin, husband and father of a 1 year old son. One behalf of my entire family I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this.

Miami Police Looking For Opa Locka Rapper Brisco

Rapper Brisco is being sought for the assault of an 18-year-old man last week, in North Miami. North Miami police say the rapper, born British Alexander Mitchell, assaulted the man during an altercation, which knocked him unconscious and caused severe injuries. Brisco then fled the scene in a White Range Rover with Florida tags. Police are asking anyone who has knowledge of the rapper's whereabouts to call with information. In July of 2009, Brisco was robbed inside of a barbershop in Miami. Bandits forced him to the ground, stole $35,000 worth of jewelry and made off with his Range Rover, which was later recovered. Shortly after the robbery, Brisco released a 4:19 second track titled “Revenge,” in which he promised retaliation for the incident, although it is not known if the song is related to current altercation involving the rapper.

Grand Rapids Shooting: Suspect In Michigan Rampage Commits Suicide

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- A gunman opened fire in two Michigan homes Thursday, killing seven people before leading police on a high-speed chase through downtown Grand Rapids and taking three hostages. The standoff ended when he killed himself with a gunshot to the head, authorities said.

The hostages were released unharmed.

Authorities did not have a motive for the suspect, 34-year-old Rodrick Shonte Dantzler, or disclose his exact relationship with those he killed.

The manhunt for Dantzler began after four people were found dead in one home and three were discovered in another across town. Two of the dead were children.

"We believe there were prior relationships with at least one person at each location, so we think there were some difficulties there," Police Chief Kevin Belk said.

Following the discovery of the bodies, Dantzler led officers on a chase, crashed his car and then took the hostages, police said.

Dozens of officers with guns drawn cordoned off a neighborhood near a small lake in the northern part of the city and shut down nearby Interstate 96.

Records show Dantzler was released from state prison in 2005 after serving time for assault less than murder. A spokesman for the prison system said he had not been under state supervision since then.

At one point during the chase, the suspect crossed a wide grassy median on the interstate and drove the wrong way down the highway while more than a dozen squad cars pursued him. Belk said he crashed the vehicle while driving down an embankment into a wooded area of the highway, which remained closed hours later.

Two other people were shot when the suspect fired at police during the chase, but their wounds were not considered life-threatening. One man was wounded in what Belk described as a "road rage" attack after the suspect fired through the rear window of the vehicle. A woman was hit in the arm in a separate shooting.

The names of the dead were not immediately released. Autopsies were scheduled for Friday.

Carrie Colacchio lives a little more than a mile away from the hostage situation and said she was driving in the area when the suspect's vehicle blew through.

"I looked in my rearview mirror and see this big white SUV coming up behind me," she said. "The only way to get out of it was to push the gas pedal."

She couldn't turn off the road or slow down or go any other way and reached about 85 mph.

"I almost got smacked," she said. "I had to go up on the curb."

Sandra Powney lives across the street from one of the homes where the shootings happened and said she had seen Dantzler at the ranch house, where a couple has lived for more than 20 years with two adult daughters.

Powney said she had been at home all day and did not realize anyone had been killed until police arrived at the cul-de-sac in the midafternoon.

"For a while we couldn't come outside," she said. "They didn't know if there was someone still inside the house."

Neighbors said police congregated at Dantzler's home a few miles away after the shootings.

Sonia Bergers said Dantzler lived with a woman she assumed was his wife and their daughter, a girl who appeared to be about 10 years old.

Mary Lahuis and her husband had just returned home after having coffee at a nearby fast-food restaurant when police began running down their street with guns, yelling at people to get in their homes.

Of Dantzler she said: "You would see him going up and down the street. And you'd hear him going up and down the street."

Lisa Schenden lives with her husband and their children two blocks from the home where four people were killed. She said the homeowners are a couple whose daughter has a daughter with the suspect.

Schenden said she did not hear the shooting either, but she saw the suspect and his daughter drive up to the house earlier in the day.

"Just last night, my kids went over there swimming, and I went over with them," she said.

Outside the two-story, wood-sided home where the three people were killed, neighbors stood in clumps Thursday evening, quietly talking as investigators scoured the house. As officers left, people disappeared indoors and a single police car remained on the block.

The only indication of anything unusual was three bouquets of flowers on the porch steps.

Schwarzenegger to Pay Out 'Very Generous Divorce Settlement'

According to Radar Online, after Maria Shriver officially filed for divorce from estranged husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the 'Terminator' reportedly agreed to give his soon-to-be ex-wife a "very generous divorce settlement."

In accordance with California law, if no prenup exists (which it does not in this case), due to a Community Property statute, all assets obtained during a marriage must be split 50/50. But according to reports, Schwarzenegger is seriously considering giving Shriver more than the state mandated sum.

"Arnold realized he is to blame for the collapse of his marriage," an inside source told Radar. "Maria was a loving wife and mother, and he doesn't think that any amount of money can minimize what he has put her through. He wants to do the right thing, and go above and beyond what is required of him under the law."

Shriver formally filed for divorce on July 1 and had previously hired investigators to ascertain just how much her husband was worth. Settlement discussions between Shriver and Schwarzenegger's lawyers have reportedly been underway for more than two months. The former California Governor, who fathered a child with the couple's longtime housekeeper, Mildred Baena, can total his egregious wealth to roughly $500-$750 million, the source divulged.

"This is going to be a very amicable divorce, and it won't be played out in the media," the source continued. "Neither one of them wants that. Arnold hasn't lost his mind, he is going to be giving away his fortune to her. He wants to show his children he is taking responsibility for his actions."

The press will be the last ones clued into the details of the divorce if the public couple has anything to do with it. Their lawyers will be conversing with a private judge who will rule on the settlement before alerting the presiding judge to the decision.

But one thing the couple has already agreed on are their views on how their two minor children -- Patrick and Christopher -- should be parented. Both Shriver and Schwarzenegger are seeking joint custody.
