We love you Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston became a trailblazer the moment she first stepped in and seized the spotlight. In 1992, Ms. Houston released a cover of Dolly Parton’s 1974 Jolene single that would not only break Billboard records by topping the Hot 100 chart for 14 consecutive weeks, but also become the best-selling single of all-time by a female artist. The incomparable smash would unfortunately be the last message left on the late singer’s tombstone, as it was etched on there last week. Houston, who passed away in February 2012, was laid to rest next to her father at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, N.J. The 48-year-old pop queen died on the night of February 11, 2012 after drowning in her bathtub, with cocaine use and heart disease as contributing factors. Her headstone includes a teardrop-shaped engraving with an epitaph that reads: “Whitney E. Houston Aug. 9, 1963 – Feb. 11, 2012 ‘THE VOICE’ ‘I will always love you’.” This comes just two weeks shy from what would have been the legendary songstress’ 49th birthday

Hundreds of stingrays found dead on Mexican beach

It was an eerie scene Tuesday on a beach in the Mexican state of Veracruz, as roughly 300 large stingray carcasses littered the shore. The cause remains mysterious, and Mexican authorities are investigating. But some speculate that Chachalacas fishermen, who possibly captured the winged rays in nets, dumped them after failing to get a worthwhile price. However, Chachalacas fisherman Jaime Vazquez told the BBC that fishermen would not do such a thing.
