Lady Gaga Shatters Records With New Single

After just 3 days, GaGa's 'Born This Way' has debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with an awe–inspiring 448k downloads, making giving it the 1st–week highest digital sales by a female artist in history (3rd highest overall). Claiming the title as the chart's 1000th #1 single, the track also scored the largest premiere–week airplay figures with an audience of 78.5 million listeners.
The success of 'Born This Way' eclipses the achievements of Spears' 'Hold It Against Me' which debuted at #1 4 weeks ago by selling 411k in digital downloads and 45 million audience impressions. 'Born.' even entered at #14 on the Pop Songs lineup, positioning it as the 2nd highest debut by a song on the chart in history.
Nevertheless, despite GaGa's massive accomplishment, she was unable to outshineMariah Carey's 18–year record on the Pop chart. Music's best–selling songbird maintains her record for having the highest debut on the Pop Songs tally with'Dreamlover' which entered at #12 in 1993.
