STOCKTON, Calif. -- On March 28th Jeanette Gaines was caught in the center of a gun battle in the area of Phelps Street and Ninth Street, according to police.
Police said that during the gunfire, Gaines, a bystander, was shot and died later at a local hospital. She was 56 years old.
Stockton police detectives said that during the course of their investigation they acquired information which implicated Terrell Lamont Washington, 18, of Stockton in her death. On Friday, police officers said that they located and arrested Washington in the area of Sixth Street and El Dorado Street. He was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail on suspicion of homicide and gang-related charges.
