Beyonce urged not to push Pepsi

An anti-soda group is pressing Beyonce to drop her $50 million endorsement deal with Pepsi. Michael F. Jacobson, executive director of Center for Science in the Public Interest, says, “By lending your name and image to PepsiCo, you are associating your positive attributes with a product that is quite literally sickening Americans.” According to the CSPI's report "Liquid Candy: How Soft Drinks Are Ruing America's Health," sodas such as Pepsi are a leading cause of childhood obesity in the U.S. And according to the Centers for Disease Control, sugar-sweetened drinks are the largest source of added sugar in youth diets, and childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years.
